Treating Chronic Sinus Infections Using Functional Medicine
Dealing with chronic sinusitis (recurring sinus infections) can be incredibly frustrating. It can be especially challenging when you feel like you’re constantly taking antibiotics that only offer temporary relief and keep you stuck in a back-and-forth antibiotic cycle.
Recurring bacterial sinus infections are often confused with chronic sinusitis, as their symptoms are quite similar. However, the true cause of chronic sinusitis is typically a mold infection, specifically a candida fungal infection (yeast). This infection keeps the sinus tissues irritated, causing a constant cycle of inflammation and sinus issues.
When the sinus tissues are constantly inflamed due to the mold infection, the environment within the sinuses becomes disrupted. This makes it easy for bacteria to invade and take hold, leading to a secondary bacterial sinus infection. In response, people often take antibiotics to treat the infection.
Symptoms of Chronic Sinusitis
Chronic Sinusitis is characterized by inflammation of the sinus that lasts 12 or more weeks despite attempts to treat it. Some of the main symptoms include:
- Facial pain and pressure – especially around the eyes, forehead, cheeks, and nose.
- Congestion – that horrible full feeling of being unable to breathe through your nose which may be accompanied by thick yellow or green nasal discharge.
- Post-Nasal drip – the unpleasant trickle of mucus down the back of your throat that makes you want to cough and leaves a sore throat.
- Reduce sense of taste and smell.
- Headache especially around the forehead and eyes.
- Fatigue, eventually these symptoms begin to wear you down, decreasing energy levels and making it difficult to carry out daily activities.
Sinusitis Surgery Won’t Solve a Smoldering Candida Infection
When the antibiotics inevitably fail again, conventional medicine may then recommend sinusitis surgery which opens up the boney canals in the sinuses to help improve airflow. But why bother with an unnecessary surgery when airflow can be improved by reducing the inflammation in the mucous membranes in the first place?
You need to address the root cause, “the why” you have a chronic sinusitis, otherwise even after one or two sinus surgeries you can still be dealing with recurring sinus infections.
Recurring Sinus Infections indicate a disrupted immune system.
When discussing chronic sinusitis, it’s essential to remember that we’re talking about immune system disruption. This disruption refers to losing the set point in the middle of the immune system, causing it to fluctuate between two extremes.
On one end, we have autoimmune diseases, allergies, eczema, and asthma, and on the other end, we have cancer and infections, including recurrent sinus infections. When your immune system is functioning optimally, it can effectively fight off infections and prevent autoimmune and chronic disease.
How to get rid of a recurring sinus infection without antibiotics?
As a Functional Medicine Doctor, I often get asked about how to get rid of chronic sinusitis, without the use of antibiotics.
Although antibiotics can effectively eliminate the bacteria, they do not address the underlying mold infection. Consequently, the sinus tissues remain inflamed, providing the perfect environment for bacteria to invade again. This results in a vicious cycle of bacterial infections and antibiotic use, without addressing the root cause of the problem.
The specific solution for the nasal cavities is to use pH Structured Silver Solution nasal spray. Just a couple of sprays in each nostril 3-8x a day can help get rid of the chronic smoldering mold infection and prevent bacteria from taking hold on top of it. It can be used by adults and is also safe enough for children.
By getting rid of the underlying mold infection, the inflammation goes away, and your sinuses are finally happy. Plus, you avoid all the downsides that antibiotics have for your gut and your health in general.
Science behind pH Structured Silver Solution
Silver has been used as an antimicrobial agent since ancient Greek and Roman times. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, colloidal silver gained popularity before antibiotics were available. Too much colloidal silver, however, can turn you blue! 😱
pH Structured Silver Solution, won’t turn you blue as it doesn’t bioaccumulate in your body. Bioaccumulation is when substances build up in your tissues over time, potentially causing harm. This nano silver solution is unique and can be used to treat and prevent infections long-term.

In the pH Structured Silver Solution, the balanced pH and structured water molecules cause the release of protons. These protons prompt the water molecules to organize themselves in a stacked arrangement, similar to pallets used for storage and transportation.
This unique organization of water molecules enhances the solution’s ability to penetrate and access infected or inflamed areas more effectively. As a result, the silver can efficiently reach and neutralize pathogens, reducing inflammation and promoting the healing process. The structured water enhances the silver’s antimicrobial action, resulting in decreased inflammation and quicker recovery.
What to do if you need to take antibiotics
Antibiotics are designed to kill bacteria, but they often cannot distinguish between harmful and beneficial bacteria.
As a result, antibiotics can disrupt the balance of the gut microbiome, killing off beneficial bacteria along with the targeted harmful ones. Even one dose of an antibiotic can disrupt your microbiome. Ideally you want to keep all the good bacteria and keep the bad ones to a minimum so that you get all the good guys doing the work for you, fighting your battles and none of the bad bugs trying to take you down.
If you have to take an antibiotic (you want to minimize antibiotics as often as you can), but if needed, ideally, it should be followed 2 hours later by a high quality probiotic (I don’t recommend refrigerated ones).
The probiotic should be continued daily for two weeks after completing the course of antibiotics. Ideally as part of what I call the Foundational Triad which is a triad of supplements that includes Vitamin D3, Probiotic, and Butyrate. This combination can help maintain a healthy gut microbiome and support the immune system during antibiotic treatment.
Nutraceutical-grade probiotics for kids as young as 1, are available in my online store.

Addressing the root cause of recurring sinus infection is crucial
Using pH structured silver solution as a nasal spray is a great way to get rid of chronic smoldering infections in the sinuses.
As a Functional Medicine Doctor, I always aim to treat the underlying issue and not just the symptoms. In addition to treating the mold infection, the candida fungal infection (yeast), using a Functional Medicine approach, we would go further and address the root cause of why the body has been unable to clear the infections on its own. Which could be:
- cortisol issues
- infections of all kinds
- environmental toxicities
- hormonal imbalances (particularly estrogen dominance in women which is hugely problematic)
- your big central mechanism the gut (healed through food, fasting and all of the above)
To learn how to take care of your gut and address any other imbalances that may be contributing to (or now exist because of) your chronic condition, please join my Free 7-day Educational Email Course www.MedicalBillDetox.com.
By adopting the root cause solving (Functional Medicine) approach to your health, you are also preventing future autoimmune and chronic disease. You also gain the knowledge and experience to help others in your family.
This approach stops you and your loved ones from wasting time and money on unnecessary treatments. It improves your quality of life and puts you on a path to living disease and pain free into your 90s.
