AWhile it may seem weird to celebrate the announcement of a new autoimmune disease, if medicine doesn’t have a name for a disease, it doesn’t know what to do.
Before Bilstrom’s Nuclearitis was named, allopathic medicine just called it a “positive ANA” and had no defined treatments or protocols for reversing progression.
Bilstrom’s Nuclearitis (having a positive ANA) is an autoimmune disease that occurs when you are positive for antinuclear antibodies (ANA) which attack a specific part of your DNA (the nuclear material) in every cell of your body. Named in 2018 and first published in 2020, in the textbook Advanced Therapeutics in Pain Medicine, Chapter 6: Managing Pain in the Presence of Autoimmune Disease.
After receiving a positive ANA, patients go through a lot of testing to be told “well you have a positive ANA, but it’s not an autoimmune disease YET… let’s wait and see what it turns into.”
Yikes! Yes you heard that right. It’s common in allopathic medicine for people (it affects mostly women) to receive a positive ANA and be told to wait and see what disease it turns into before starting treatment.
Unfortunately a positive ANA can progress into a number of horrible autoimmune diseases that are completely preventable when using root cause solving protocols found in Functional Medicine.
Here are just a few of them:
- Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) – A chronic inflammatory disease that can affect multiple organs and systems in the body.
- Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) – A chronic inflammatory disease that primarily affects the joints.
- Sjögren’s syndrome – A disorder that causes dry eyes and mouth, as well as other symptoms due to the inflammation of exocrine glands.
- Scleroderma (systemic sclerosis) – A disease characterized by the thickening and hardening of the skin and connective tissues.
- Mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) – A rare autoimmune disorder that combines features of SLE, scleroderma, and polymyositis.
- Polymyositis and dermatomyositis – Inflammatory muscle diseases that cause muscle weakness and, in the case of dermatomyositis, skin rash.
- Autoimmune thyroid diseases – Such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and Graves’ disease, which affect the function of the thyroid gland.
- Autoimmune hepatitis – A chronic liver disease caused by an immune attack on the liver cells.
- Autoimmune vasculitis – A group of diseases characterized by inflammation and damage to blood vessels.
Here are some autoimmune diseases and the doctors they were named after.
As you read this list, remember, prior to a number of these diseases, Bilstrom’s Nuclearitis would exist. When western allopathic medicine recognizes Bilstrom’s Nuclearitis and works to stop progression, then some of these diseases will never manifest. Saving the person (and their family) time, money and pain.
- Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (affects the thyroid): Named in 1912 after Dr. Hakaru Hashimoto
- Crohn’s disease (causes inflammation in the digestive tract): Named in 1932 after Dr. Burrill Bernard Crohn
- Graves’ disease (causes hyperthyroidism): Named in 1835 after Dr. Robert James Graves
- Addison’s disease (affects adrenal glands): Named in 1855 after Dr. Thomas Addison
- Sjögren’s syndrome (causes dryness in mouth, eyes, and other areas): Named in 1933 after Dr. Henrik Sjögren
- Guillain-Barré syndrome (affects peripheral nervous system): Named in 1916 after Drs. Georges Guillain and Jean-Alexandre Barré
- Goodpasture’s syndrome (affects kidneys and lungs): Named in 1919 after Dr. Ernest Goodpasture
- Behçet’s disease (causes inflammation in blood vessels): Named in 1937 after Dr. Hulusi Behçet
- Takayasu’s arteritis (inflammation of large blood vessels): Named in 1908 after Dr. Mikito Takayasu
- Reiter’s Syndrome (causes joint pain, eye inflammation, and urinary issues post-infection): Named in 1942 after Dr. Hans Reiter
- Cogan’s Syndrome (affects eyes and ears, causing inflammation, hearing loss, and vision problems): Named in 1945 after Dr. David Cogan
- Susac Syndrome (affects brain, retina, inner ear – encephalopathy, visual disturbances, hearing loss): Named in 1973 after Dr. John Susac.
By taking care of the root cause of why DNA attacks itself, we can prevent a lifetime of disease and pain.
I hope this gives you a glimpse into why I’m so passionate about my mission is to revolutionize how autoimmune disease is treated worldwide through teaching the fundamentals of Functional Medicine.
If you or someone you know receives a positive ANA diagnosis, there is hope and a solution!
I have created a free 7-Day Educational Email Course that walks you through the fundamentals I share with patients in my practice every day. 👉Medical Bill Detox: How to Solve the Root Cause of Autoimmune Disease (including Bilstrom’s Nuclearitis) & Stop Spending Thousands of Dollars on Unnecessary Treatments. https://www.MedicalBillDetox.com
If you want to quickly learn why and how you ended up with a positive ANA (aka Bilstrom’s Nuclearits), enroll in my Autoimmune Hope 90-minute online self paced course, which includes a live Q&A group session with me and access to all past recordings. You will get up to speed very quickly with why and how its happening, along with many of the protocols and lifestyle changes needed to reverse the positive ANA before it turns into anything more serious.
